From Late-Night Singalongs to Shattered Shores

If you've been aboard Groove Cruise, you might already know where this story begins. For years, Groove Cruise has brought electronic music fans together for an unforgettable experience at sea. But somewhere between the DJ sets, sunrise sessions, and themed parties, another community started making some serious noise.

Enter Taking Back Emo. What began as an emo and pop-punk stage takeover aboard Groove Cruise grew into one of the most beloved experiences on the ship. Captains showed up to sing every word, relive the songs that shaped their younger years, and connect with people who understood exactly why those songs still mattered.
‍

The response kept growing. Packed venues, unforgettable singalongs, and the addition of iconic artists helped turn Taking Back Emo from a themed party into something much bigger. It wasn't just about nostalgia, it was about community. Because there's something pretty special about standing in a room full of people who don't just know the same songs as you, but feel them the same way you do.
‍

As Taking Back Emo continued to grow, one question became harder to ignore: What if this experience didn't have to end when the takeover was over? What if there were an entire voyage dedicated to this music and the people who love it?
‍

That's where Shattered Shores comes in.
‍

Created by Whet Travel, Shattered Shores takes the spirit of Taking Back Emo and expands it into an entirely new experience. With hosted programming from Taking Back Emo, Summer School, and So What?! Music Festival, it brings together different corners of alternative music culture for four nights at sea.
‍

Whether you're a longtime Groove Cruiser, a pop-punk lifer, or someone who's just discovered their love for emo, Shattered Shores is your invitation to be part of something new.

Meet the Shattered Shores 2027 Lineup

Of course, no music cruise would be complete without the music. The inaugural Shattered Shores lineup brings together artists who helped define the alternative scene alongside acts that continue to keep it evolving. From pop-punk anthems and emo favorites to genre-blending performances, the lineup celebrates the sounds that brought fans together in the first place.
‍

Here are a few of the artists helping launch this first-ever sailing.
‍

New Found Glory on Shattered Shores 2027

‍

Few bands are more synonymous with the golden era of pop-punk than New Found Glory. With decades of anthems, high-energy live shows, and a catalog that has soundtracked countless memories, their appearance makes Shattered Shores feel instantly connected to the history of the genre. For longtime fans, it's a chance to experience songs they've loved for years in a completely different setting. For newer fans, it's a chance to see one of pop-punk's defining bands surrounded by thousands of people who love the same music. And yes, there will probably be a lot of singing.

‍
Cobra Starship on Shattered Shores 2027

‍

‍

Cobra Starship brings a different kind of energy to the Shattered Shores experience. Known for infectious hooks, danceable production, and some of the most recognizable crossover hits of the 2000s and 2010s, the band's presence perfectly captures Shattered Shores' ability to move between alternative music and something much bigger. It's nostalgic without being stuck in the past and that's exactly the energy Shattered Shores is built around.

3OH!3 on Shattered Shores 2027

‍

‍

If there was ever a band built for an unforgettable night at sea, it's 3OH!3. Their chaotic blend of electronic production, alternative influences, humor, and massive sing-along moments adds another dimension to the Shattered Shores 2027 lineup. Expect the kind of performance where the entire room suddenly realizes it knows every word and don’t forget…never trust a hoe.

Jaret Reddick of Bowling For Soup on Shattered Shored 2027

‍

‍

Jaret Reddick brings decades of pop-punk history and a whole lot of personality to Shattered Shores. As the frontman of Bowling For Soup, Jaret has been part of the soundtrack for multiple generations of fans. His appearance also reflects something important about Shattered Shores: this isn't about recreating one specific era.

More Than the Music: Four Nights of Alternative Culture at Sea

‍

The music might be what gets you to book your cabin, but they won't be the only thing keeping you busy.
‍

Shattered Shores is designed to be an immersive music experience where something is happening around the clock. Artists and fans share the same ship, performances happen throughout the voyage, and the spaces between shows become part of the adventure. Your four days onboard could be made up of daytime hangs by the pool, DJ sets, artist-hosted experiences, themed parties, late-night programming, and spontaneous moments that end up becoming everyone's favorite stories.

And then there are the theme nights. If you've ever wanted an excuse to revisit your favorite era of alternative fashion, consider this your moment. Pull out the band tees, resurrect the eyeliner, bring back the accessories you swore you'd never wear again, and get ready to see an entire ship embrace the assignment. Whether you're dressing for a particular theme, discovering a new artist, or simply hanging out with friends you've just met, there's room to make the experience your own.

Shattered Shores also features hosted experiences from Taking Back Emo, Summer School, and So What?! Music Festival, bringing different communities together on the same ship. It's a chance to experience the culture surrounding the music, not just watch it from the crowd. And because everyone is sharing the same floating festival, you never know who you might run into between sets.

Meet You on the Beachcomber

The setting for all of this? The brand-new Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber.

Departing from Miami on September 9, 2027, the ship will carry Shattered Shores guests to Taino Bay in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, before returning to Miami on September 13.

With approximately 2,700 guests, the Beachcomber offers a more intimate setting than some of the mega-ships used for large-scale festivals. Its lineup of dining options, bars, lounges, pools, and entertainment spaces means the ship itself becomes part of the experience.

Across 13 passenger decks, the ship opens up in layers. Three pools, the Tropical Twister waterslide, and 11 bars and lounges give you space to move between high-energy and slow resets, never too far from whatever you’re looking for next.

With 10 complimentary dining options like High Tide Market – featuring everything from Kickin’ & Pickin’ Chicken and Sun Baked BBQ to Frank & Lola’s Pizzeria, Provisions, and Slice of Paradise – you’re always within reach of something easy, familiar, or late-night necessary.

Just steps away, the world’s largest 5 o’Clock Somewhere spans four decks as a poolside playground of live music, tropical cocktails, and constant movement. Whether you’re posted up with a drink, catching a daytime set, or drifting between spaces, it becomes one of those places you keep finding your way back to.

Every space is part of it – the music, the movement, the late nights, the quiet moments in between. And with everything closer, louder, and more connected, the experience doesn’t just happen on stage, it happens everywhere.

A Different Kind of Music Community

Here's the thing about music: sometimes a song becomes part of your identity long before you realize how many other people feel the same way. Maybe it reminds you of your high school years, helped you through a difficult time, was the soundtrack to a friendship, a first concert, a road trip, or a period of your life you'll never forget. Whatever the connection, music has a way of bringing people together.

That's the idea at the heart of Shattered Shores. You don't need to know every band on the lineup, have attended every Warped Tour, or remember every MySpace trend. You don't even need to have taken a cruise before. You just need to love music and be open to sharing the experience with other people who do too.

For Groove Cruise fans, Shattered Shores is a chance to experience the community-building approach Whet Travel has developed over years at sea through a new musical lens. For emo and pop-punk fans discovering Shattered Shores for the first time, it's an opportunity to experience a dedicated alternative music cruise built around the artists, culture, and connections they've been looking for. And for everyone onboard, it's a chance to make new memories with music that already means something to them.‍
